A VIN is a unique code assigned by the manufacturer. It’s made up of 17 characters and reveals key information about the vehicle, including the:

In a car, the VIN can be found stamped into the chassis or on the engine. It might also be on the dashboard or doorframe. On a motorbike, it’s most commonly found to the right of the headstock tube.

How much does a car VIN check cost?

Along with checking the vehicle registration plate, every full hpi check® we offer includes a VIN check. The single check costs £19.99 and includes a detailed report that covers more than 80 key data points about the vehicle’s past.

If you’ve found more than one car that you’d like to get information on, our MultiCheck package lets you check three vehicles at once. This is priced at £29.97 – a saving of 50% compared to individual checks.

We also offer a basic vehicle check for £9.99. However, the VIN check is not included in this package. You also won’t benefit from our £30,000 data guarantee or additional details like a stolen log book check or mileage discrepancies.
